A professional resume is a concise, formal document that highlights an individual’s education, work experience, skills, and achievements in a clear and organized manner. Its primary purpose is to showcase a candidate’s qualifications and potential to prospective employers, with the goal of securing an interview or job opportunity. To create a professional resume using canva,
- Firstly, go to your browser and type in “canva.com” on your search bar and press “Enter” on your keyboard.
- The website interface will display.
- Then, click on the search bar.
- Go ahead and type in “resume” on the search bar and press “Enter” on the keyboard.
- And the “resume” interface will display. The website has design templates which can be used or you can create a blank resume by clicking on the first box with a + sign at the middle.
- For the purpose of the class, we will select “PAULA WILSON” template by clicking on it.
- And it will display.
- This website allows you to make editions on any template of your choice. Here, on the “PAULA WILSON” template we will change the “PAULA” to “ISAAC” on whatever name of your choice. We can do this by clicking on the name.
- Then, press your “Backspace key” on your keyboard to clear the name.
- Then edit to your name which is “ISAAC” (mind you, we are using “ISAAC” for the purpose of the class. you can use any name of your choice.
- You can as well go back to the interface and click on “Create a blank resume”.
- And it will open.
- If you look closely at the interface, at the left hand side of it you will see some features listed from top to bottom. For the purpose of the class we will click on one of the features carrying a letter “T” sign which stands for “text”. And it will display it features. The features consist of (Heading, subheading, body font, and font combination).
- Let’s take for instance, we want to add a heading, simply click on “Add heading”.
- After clicking on it, it will appear in the blank sheet, then, click, hold, and drag to the top since it’s a heading you want to type.
- When we are done moving it to the top, hit “Enter” on your keyboard and it will allow you to type in whatever heading you want to type.
- For the purpose of the class we will type in “ISAAC SHADRACH” You can type in your name if you want).
- You can adjust the size of the text you just typed to your taste by pacing your cursor at the edge of the box that the text is in, and then click and hold, and move forward to increase, and backward to decrease.
- You can also change the color of your text. Simply check above the blank sheet and select the icon with letter “A” sign and it will display different kinds of colors for you to choose from.
- For the purpose of the class we will go with blue color.
- If you want to use a resume template that has a picture, simply click on a template that has a picture on it by clicking on it. For the purpose of the class we will click on the first template.
- And it will display.
- There is a “resume” features that is called “upload”. Check by the left hand side of your system. When might have found it, click on it and it will open.
- On the “upload” feature, it allows for you to upload media (i.e images of your choice). All you need to do is to go to the template and click on the image on it.
- Delete the image on the template by pressing the “Delete key” on your keyboard.
- Select your image from the “upload” feature. Click, hold, and drag.
- Re-adjust it to fit into the circle.
- When you are done adjusting it, then place it in the circle.
- You can as well download this template after you are done editing it. Just go to your navigation bar above and click on “File” and a menu will dropdown.
- On the menu dropdown click on “Downloads”.
- And a message box will appear.
- The message box carries different kinds of file types and sizes of images you want to download. When you click on the “Fie type” it will display a lot of file types for you. File types like (PDF, JPEG, PNG etc.).
- For the purpose of this class we will choose “PDF Standard” by clicking on it.
- On the message box click on “Download”.
- And it will begin to download.
- You can as well download the “PNG” file type and see. Simply go back to your navigation bar again click on “File “ and click on it, and a dropdown menu will appear after clicking on it.
- On the menu drop down click on “Download”.
- A message box will appear.
- On the message box, click on “File type” and a list of file types will appear.
- From the list of file types, select “PNG” and click on it.
- Then, click on “Download” on the message box.
- And it will begin to download.
- Go to your file manager after downloading the images.
- Check for “Download” and click on it.
- A list of your downloads will be displayed. Here, our image name is “Grey and white minimal Resume”. So, click on it.
- Wait for it to load.
- And it will open.
