In Power BI, the Reset button is a feature that allows you to restore a report or dashboard to its original state, essentially “resetting” any changes or filters you’ve applied. This returns the report to its default view, giving you a fresh start or allowing you to begin a new analysis.
- We have the dashboard report here, with the date from 01/09/2013 to 01/12/2014
- We can filter it to 2014 by dragging the button under filter from 2013 to 2014
- We can also select a parameter, let’s say profit
- Now if we want to reset it (take it back to the default way) we will just click on the reset button and it will change back to default. If you are using powerBI desktop, you will have to hold the control button before you can enable the reset feature.
- To enable the reset button, go to the view tab
- Click on bookmarks
- You will see the reset button I already added to the first tab. To add a new one, click on add.
- Name the new bookmark Reset 1
- Click on the three dots at the right side of the new bookmark (Reset 1) and click on on selected visuals. (This shows that the button can only work on selected visuals). Once clicked, the all visuals will select.
- Hold your shift key and select the slicers you want to apply your reset button on. Here we will apply to Date and Parameter.
- Go to Reset 1, click on the three dots and click on update.
- Click on the reset button at the left. Now it is just a blank button
- At the right side under button, navigate to Action and turn it on
- Click on the dropdown arrow on action and set the type to bookmark, set bookmark to Reset 1.
- Apply a filter on it by taking the year to 2014 and selecting discount as parameter.
- Hit the reset button and it will go back.
